Jacob Lay | End Of Season Q&A #11 | 23.05.2024 |

Jacob Lay looks back at the season.

DK: How do you reflect on the season overall?

JL: It was great couldn’t have asked it to go any better and it’s nothing less than what we deserved with all the hard work the players and staff put in.

DK: Last season the aim was to have a better league campaign, so you must be pleased to have achieved it - in some style?

JL: Yeah, obviously last year I knew we had the potential to do good things we just needed to be more consistent and we have done this year.

DK: What was your favourite goal that either you or one of your teammates scored this season?
JL: Jamie’s hat-trick on the game to win the league was good I would say.

DK: What moments stood out most to you this season?

JL: I liked the FA Cup run that was good and unfortunate not to get through I would say.

DK: Has it sunk in yet, doing the double?

JL: Yeah I think it finally has just a great feeling and history makers!

DK: When did you think we were going to win the league?

JL: I think when we beat Leamington away that felt like one of the many big 3 points we got.

DK: How did it feel to win the title at home, in front of our fans?

JL: Amazing feeling to do it in front of your fans who have supported us all season so well and we are very grateful for them, also happy for all the players who’s have been at the club for a long time and been loyal finally getting what they have worked so hard for.

DK: Can you pick a player of season?

JL: There was honestly so many I think every player has had a spell of Being the best.

DK: What comes to mind when you think about winning the league?

JL: Just winning it with a great bunch of friends.

DK: Another incredible FA Cup run, albeit falling just short of the first round must top off the season?

JL: Yes FA Cup run was good wanted to do one better next season and get into the first round again.

DK:What are your aims and targets for next season?

JL: Just keep my head down work hard listen to the older heads and see where it takes me. This group is special though so I’m full of hope for next year who knows what we can achieve.
