Tevan Allen | End Of Season Q&A #4 | 14.05.2024 |

Midfielder Tevan Allen reflects on winning the historic season.

DK: How do you reflect on the season overall?

TA: Wow where do I start… I think it’s nothing short of spectacular to be honest I don’t think anyone including myself coming to the club thought that this would happen this season! So I think it’s literally been a perfect season and will be hard to ever replicate.

DK: What was your favourite goal that you scored this season and why?

TA: For me personally I think the goal at home against Peterborough Sports for a couple of reasons. Firstly, me and the boys were bantering whilst away and I said surely that’s got to be in contention for goal of the season and secondly I think the game itself it was a great time to get the goal and it was one of the best I’ve scored to be honest.

DK: What was your favourite goal scored by a teammate?

TA: It has to be Ingers one away at Telford… the whole ground went silent and I felt like it went in slow motion, I was right behind it and WOW what a goal.

DK: Do any other moments stand out to you from the season, if so what and why?

TA: The one for me personally was at home to Leamington when I scored the free kick and came off injured. I actually think this was a massively pivotal moment in the season because that win was a statement and it was a tough win.

DK: Has it sunk in yet, doing the double?

TA: I think it’s just about sunk in now all of the partying is over from our double and Ipswich going up but I think it will really sink in that first whistle of next season!

DK: What's the overriding emotion you feel when you reflect on winning the league?

TA: There’s 2… pride and joy. I could write a million words about how it made me feel personally but those 2 summarise it perfectly.

DK: Can you pick a player of season?

TA: I’ve already picked mine and I’ll wait for them hopefully to win it on Friday but this person has been incredible from the first to the last game and I really do hope he wins players player at least.

DK: An incredible FA Cup run, albeit falling just short of the first round, must top off the season?

TA: I think the double has overlooked how well we did in the FA Cup against so many tough sides and so much adversities on the way but honestly it sums up our season that York players and management walked off of our pitch saying that we should have went through… it’s a testament to our work rate.

DK: It must make it even sweeter that you've been nominated for a national player of the year award?

TA: When somebody sent me this I couldn’t believe it… I never thought I’d win it in a million years and congrats to the lad that did but honestly to even get near to being mentioned is crazy to me and something I’m really proud of.

DK: What are your aims and targets for next season?

TA: I think for me personally I know what lies ahead and I know it’s not going to be easy so I’m just going to put more focus than ever into my game to improve regardless of the outcome come the end of the season. As a team I think we need to just enjoy the ride, soak up all of the experiences and see where it takes us! Never get too high and never get too low and it scares me to say this but with what we have and what we could bring to the team we could cause this league a problem just like Tamworth did! But for me I don’t think we should have any expectations put on us we just need to get our heads down, work hard, have fun and see where it takes us.
